He was far and away the wittiest modern French writer – having to live most of his productive adult life in England so that High-Status ‘Aristocrats’ could not continue sending hired thugs to ‘beat the shit out of him again’ because they were insulted by the ridicule. I’ll bet you did not know that!
PPS. If the disparity of Social Prestige between the two disputant roles is large enough, the mere adamantine demand of the more Socially Prestigious disputant must be submitted to without any necessary procedures or protocols!
